Information This Website Collects

If you use the contact form, the website collects what you enter: your name, email address, organization, role, inquiry type, any event, engagement, or budget details, and your message. Legal inquiries also collect the matter type, the forum, any key deadline, and the names of the client, the parties, and opposing counsel, which may identify people other than you. The message subject lists the inquiry type, your name, and, if you followed a tagged link, its source. The confirmation page address carries the inquiry type and any source tag. If you accepted analytics, Google Analytics records that a form was sent and its inquiry type; it never receives the text you enter. The form is delivered through FormSubmit, a third-party form service, to tom@reichert.law. FormSubmit may show a Google reCAPTCHA check before delivering your message. See formsubmit.co for its practices.

This website uses Google Analytics to measure site traffic, but only if you accept analytics cookies in the banner, which appears until you make a choice. Your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage for this site. If you decline, Google Analytics does not load, and declining after an earlier accept removes the Google Analytics cookies. If you accept, Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and may process device and browser characteristics, approximate location, referring pages, and how you interact with the site. Google describes its practices in the Google Privacy Policy and explains how it uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can change your choice at any time: analytics cookie settings.

Pages load typefaces from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address and browser information when a page is displayed. The website is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare, which processes IP addresses and routine request information to deliver and secure the site. How Information Is Used and Shared

Information is used to respond to inquiries, evaluate potential engagements, communicate with students and colleagues, maintain the website, understand aggregate usage, and meet legal or professional obligations. Inquiries about MarkSense Analytics are received by Thomas Reichert on behalf of MarkSense Analytics.

Personal information is not sold or rented. It may be processed by the service providers named above; disclosed when required by law or professional obligations; or shared at your direction or with your consent. Information is kept only as long as reasonably necessary for these purposes.

Email and Contact Forms

If you are writing about a legal matter, website forms and ordinary email are not secure channels for confidential or time-sensitive information. Before a conflicts check is complete, provide only the names of involved parties and a general description of the matter. Do not send documents, privileged information, or facts that could be substantially harmful to you.

Submitting a form or sending an email does not create an attorney-client relationship and does not obligate Thomas Reichert or Reichert Legal Services to represent you. An attorney-client relationship begins only through a written engagement agreement after conflicts review.

Speaking, Consulting, Expert, and MarkSense Engagements

Speaking engagements and MarkSense Analytics services are not legal services and do not create an attorney-client relationship. Whether an AI advisory or consulting engagement includes legal advice, and on what terms, is set out in its written engagement agreement, which also sets the confidentiality, data handling, and conflicts screening terms for that engagement. For consulting and testifying expert engagements, confidentiality and conflicts terms are set out in the written retention agreement.

Independence From SIU

Reichert Legal Services, consulting and advisory engagements, MarkSense Analytics, and speaking engagements booked through this website are independent of Southern Illinois University. Talks at SIU events are given as a member of the SIU faculty. Views expressed on this website are Thomas Reichert’s own and do not represent SIU or the SIU Simmons Law School.
